Both are taught to use the energy from their legs to create force that travels through the legs out the end of their hands with the release of the ball or release of the punch. Both learn balance, and as a pitcher follows through with his arm straight out in front of him, boxers throw their punch straight out and back as well. During your boxing session you may throw over 2,000 right hands, which is like throwing 2,000 pitches in a one hour session. You will also gain upper body strength, which will increase your power when swinging a baseball bat. The bodyweight shifting when swinging is used to move the energy from your legs to the bat – which is the same as pitching a fast ball or throwing a punch. Another huge benefit is the eye/hand coordination developed from boxing which is a major asset to any athlete.
