Off Ice Training
Off Ice Training: The Boxing Rink™ was created to specialize in cross training hockey players and teams to enhance their performance output.
The Boxing Rink™ was created to specialize in cross training hockey players and teams to enhance their performance output. When boxing training is used off-ice, we have seen a higher increase in the players stamina, core strength, upper body strength, eye-hand-foot coordination, reaction time, balance, speed, quickness, agility, confidence and many other ingredients that make up the ULTIMATE PERFORMING ATHLETE. This player training translates to a better operating and performing team.
Our team training packages include realistic boxing training in our synthetic ice boxing ring – the only one of its kind anywhere – allowing players to apply their learned skills to the ice, being able to train on skates, to improve balance and reaction time and prevent injury. Simultaneously, we have strength and SAQ drills with a second trainer to maximize training time. We have a dedicated, heated yoga room for stretching and recovery and is incorporated into our program.
“My team loved the Boxing Rink. Mike and his staff are second to none when it comes to delivering a great training experience. We love his passion and work ethic, the players love it! It has the unique balance of boxing and fitness.”
– Jason Woolley – 20 year NHL player – Coach U15 AAA Oakland Junior Grizzlies & Bloomfield Hills High School
“Our team made great gains, and the kids absolutely loved it. No matter what age team you have, The Boxing Rink does it the right way. Mike brings a ton of energy and has great knowledge of off ice training and boxing.”
– Jason Selleke – Coach ’05 & U16 AA OJG’s
“This is a must in the evolution of training. Mike has evolved boxing and hockey and conditioning all in one. I found that the training at The Boxing Rink with Mike prepared and gave my hockey U16 team the character confidence it takes to be a top end player and team. I highly recommend this training for teams and players.”
– Todd Bertuzzi, 18 year NHL player – Coach AAA U16 OJG’s
“The Boxing Rink exponentially elevated our compete level on the ice by incorporating Coach Mike’s curriculum of high intensity training. Our players coordination, core and overall strength, focus and drive improved in each session. This off ice training translated into continued on ice improvement as the season progressed. By incorporating yoga into our stretching and training, I am confident our players not only prevented injury during the season, but increased their ability to improve on their strength and speed. The Boxing Rink will assist your team in developing to the next level.”
– Chris Temple – USA Hockey Level 5 Master Coach
